Australia TradeCoast was first established in 1999 as a partnership between the Brisbane Airport Corporation, Brisbane City Council, Port of Brisbane Pty Ltd and Queensland State Government.
With the unique proximity between the port and airport adjacent to significant surrounding tracts of industrial land, the partnership was created in recognition of the immense potential for four of the regions’ key contributors to economic growth to drive the ongoing development of the region in a collaborative way.
In its early years, the partnership was focused on defining and promoting what was loosely referred to as the ‘Gateway Ports’ region as the Australia TradeCoast region. Following the successful defining of the region, in 2002 the founding partners incorporated ATC as an independent company with the four partners becoming the foundation members.
In the subsequent years, ATC’s primary focus evolved from destination marketing and promotion to infrastructure coordination and advocacy to business development. In recent times, ATC Ltd has been equally focused on all three objectives.
