Our Board

Australia TradeCoast’s board is comprised of leading representatives from the organisation’s four shareholding partners – the Port of Brisbane Corporation, Brisbane Airport Corporation, Department of Tourism, Regional Development and Industry and Brisbane City Council – Brisbane Marketing.

Chairman

David Harrison

Australia TradeCoast Chairman, David Harrison, has 20 years experience serving on a variety of private and public sector boards. David has been Chairman of the Port of Brisbane Corporation since July 2005, previously he was Deputy Chairman for 6 years. He is also the Chairman of Australia TradeCoast Limited, QMI Solutions Pty Ltd and the Industry Capability Network as well as a Director of Queensland Investments Limited and Brisbane Airport Corporation Pty Ltd. David also has 30 years experience in industrial relations, having previously served as Queensland Secretary of the Australian Manufacturing Workers' Union and Honorary President of the Queensland Council of Unions.

Board Members

Queensland Department of Employment, Economic Development and Innovation Executive Director Manufacturing Industries and Investment Group, John Strano is responsible for investment attraction and industry development in the marine, aviation, and advanced manufacturing sector. In 1984 after 14 years in the Federal Department of Trade, he joined the Premier's Department, Trade and Investment Branch and was involved in the central coordination of trade and investment promotion in Queensland since that time. He has specialised in investment attraction since 1989, working in the Premier's Department, Department of Economic Development and Trade and the Department of State Development.  During that time he has led the team which has attracted a number of high profile investments into Queensland by national and international companies such as Boeing, IBM, Bechtel, DHL, Capral Aluminium, EADS, GE Aviation, Qantas and Virgin Airlines. This team is now known as Invest Queensland. In the 2009 Australia Day Honours, John received a Public Service Medal for services to Trade and Investment.

 

John Aitken

Brisbane Marketing CEO, John Aitken, is an industry leader with extensive experience and proven success in leading major events and marketing some iconic Australian projects. In 2007, his leadership and achievements were acknowledged when SRES won the Australian Tourism Award in the Major Festival and Events Category, eclipsing Melbourne’s Commonwealth Games and the Gold Coast Indy. Joining Brisbane Marketing in early 2008, John now leads an aspirational marketing organisation that plays a strategic role in Brisbane’s tourism and business vision. At the helm of Brisbane’s growth, the agency is leading some of the most significant projects the city has ever seen delivering on the vision of building awareness and enhancing the profile of the city.

 

Jude Munro

Brisbane City Council CEO, Jude Munro, has previously also served as CEO for the cities of Adelaide, Moreland and St Kilda. She holds senior roles in Brisbane’s business community including Board Member positions of the Brisbane Airport Corporation, the Brisbane Institute, International Riverfoundation and United Way Queensland. She also has a post-graduate business administration degree and public policy qualifications.

 

Jeff Coleman

Port of Brisbane Corporation CEO, Jeff Coleman, is responsible for developing and implementing sustainable trade growth strategies for the port. Mr Coleman has previously worked as the port’s General Manager of Financial and Information Services. Prior to joining the port, he held senior management positions in the banking industry in Brisbane, Sydney and Auckland. Mr Coleman is Deputy Chair of the Moreton Institute of TAFE Advisory Council, and a director of Gateway Investments Corporation Pty Ltd.

 


Brisbane Airport Corporation Managing Director & CEO, Julieanne Alroe, was appointed to the position of CEO and Managing Director at BAC in July 2009. In addition to this role, Ms Alroe currently holds board positions with Brisbane Airport Corporation Pty Limited, and the International Grammar School in Sydney. Ms Alroe developed extensive experience within the aviation industry after holding a number of roles at Sydney Airport Corporation. These roles included executive management positions in the commercial, operations, corporate affairs, and planning and infrastructure department. Previous board appointments include the position of Chairman of Airports Coordination Australia Ltd and Airports Council International Safety and Technical Standing Committee.
